Emily's Journey from NY to São Paulo

Hi, I'm Emily. A New Yorker with a Love of São Paulo, Brazil

I was born and raised in a small town just outside of New York City called Suffern and after completing my degree at Colgate University in Upstate, New York I moved to Manhattan to be close to the city I loved visiting growing up as a kid.

After several trips to Brazil starting in 2002, it wasn't until 2019 that I first set foot in São Paulo (thanks to a Brazilian friend I had made while working in New York). São Paulo captured my heart the moment I arrived. I was on a short trip, but something about the energy and rhythm of the city made me feel instantly at home. It reminded me of the New York I have known and loved (the energy, the hustle, the diversity of the neighborhoods, the edginess). Little did I know, this would begin my journey to immerse myself in São Paulo’s vibrant culture while staying true to my roots of being a New Yorker.

In 2023, I returned to São Paulo and lived in the lively neighborhood of Pinheiros, where every corner held a discovery — from charming boutiques to incredible restaurants and ice cream shops serving world-class food. On weekends, I explored neighborhoods like Vila Madalena, famous for its street art and bohemian vibe, and enjoyed the lush parks like Ibirapuera, which provide a green escape from the city's rush.

I WAS IN LOVE! The diversity, the arts, the energy — I knew I had to make São Paulo a permanent part of my life. Fast forward to now, after countless trips and deepening ties, I'm preparing to make São Paulo my other home. I've immersed myself in the business scene, collaborating with local entrepreneurs, learning Portuguese, and connecting with an ever-expanding network of friends and colleagues.

I’m here to help you discover both New York and São Paulo — to experience the incredible mix of cultures, the endless opportunities, and the warm, welcoming spirit of its people. Whether you’re moving here for work or embarking on a new adventure, I can guide you through the process, from finding the perfect apartment to understanding the nuances of life in each city.

My goal is to help you create your dream life in both cities and build bridges between the two countries (whether it be New York, São Paulo, or both). Cities that are rich in opportunities yet filled with the complexities that come with moving to a new country.
